Two videos of Konkani music have made quite an impression on the social network. With thousands of views, these have been appreciated and liked by many. Kudos to these young and veteran musicians, singers and song writers who have made this possible.
Goans working in the UAE have got together to release ‘Goem Goemkar Goemkarponn’ a fitting tribute to our beautiful Goa. Released on 13th October, 2017 the occasion marked the celebration of Goa day in the UAE. The lyrics of the song describe the beauty of this land as it always was and has to be, as well as the pride every Goan has of their tiny state. Music has been composed by Edwin and Ramiro Mascarenhas while the lyrics have been penned by Sylvester Fernandes, Ramiro and Nakash Borker. Ramiro on trumpet leads the band, with Jackson Mascarenhas on the saxophone and Bernardo Cardozo on the guitar. Many singers lend their lovely voices to this video. These include Devina, Florinda, Suzy, Aviella, Jane, Jewella, Mariah, Joanishka, Bernardo, Celso, Friz, Manuxin, Nakash, Thomas, Sntaninho, Sylvestre, Ramiro and Edwin. Nezy, Jessica, Dinorsh, Shania, Allyzandro, Asten, Natalie are the child artistes. Pravin Fernandes has filmed the video at beautiful Goan and foreign locales and the editing by Eldrich is quite sleek. A delight to watch and hear. Watch this beautiful tribute to Goa. It is GOOD. Do protect whatever is left of this land of ours, for the future generations.
The other video is a tribute to the late Dominic Vaz, of Varca. A tiatrist who made a mark in the seventies. Loved by the audience this gentleman had composed a beautiful song titled ‘SEZARI’. The lyrics narrate a tale of two brothers living in the same house, but become neighbours after their marriage. The song is a plea to stop petty quarrels and urges members of a family, to love one another. A beautiful composition. A.P. Rojols pays tribute to the late actor with this video of the same song rendered by the talented young singer and musician Sanio Fernandes. Set to music by our ace trumpeter Dexter Furtado, and supported by young musicians Nerissa Cardozo on keyboard, Ziya Vaz on bass and Aquino Azaredo, great on drums. Rodney Vaz is superb on the lead and rhythm guitar. Very talented.
The six combine to give a wonderful touch to this classic song, which was previously used by many ‘tiatrist’ in bits and pieces. The video is a delight to watch and good to hear. Directed by Aquino, the performance is photographed and edited by Abdul Mutalib of Moonbyte Studio in Dubai. These young and talented musicians have done a great presentation of a beautiful song. Watch it!
