Meet Justin Gatlin, the above picture went viral recently, when Gatlin won the 100m race with a gold, while Bolt bagged a bronze. He bowed down to him out of sheer sportsmanship.
When life gave him lemons:
He has a backstory, when life gave him lemons, he was banned for two years forearlier in his career during 2001, it was believed that he was tested positive for in-taking testosterone, he returned back to athletics in 2010.
During the night’s race he was disrespected, all the fans in crowds booed at him during the heats, and the race. None of them cheered to encourage him throughout the race.
Lemons turned lemonade:
He worked to come back, and he worked his way back to championship form. Gatlin, clocked 9.92 seconds to secure first as he beat second-placed compatriot Christian Coleman and legendary Jamaican Usain Bolt, who was third.
In a show of classy sportsmanship, Bolt approached Gatlin to congratulate. Gatlin said,“The first thing he said to me was ‘congrats, you worked hard for this’”. “And he said ‘you don’t deserve these boos’ and i thanked him for inspiring me throughout my career”
From getting banned and booed to winning against the Lightning bolt, the fastest sprinter “He set a bar on, how you make your jug of lemonade when life gives you lemons”.!
